End 68 Hours of Hunger is a private, not-for-profit, effort to confront the approximately 68 hours of hunger that some school children experience between the free lunch they receive in school on Friday afternoon and the free breakfast they receive in school on Monday morning. This program puts nourishing food in the hands of school children to carry them through the weekend. Each bag of food given is worth $10 each week in donations. It provides two breakfasts, two lunches, and three dinners for a child, with some left over to share. They do this all with the help of donations of food, funds and time.
Dr. Howell and her daughter have volunteered for this organization to pack bags for a week. Each week this organization delivers over 300 bags to school children in Lake County. They are always in need of donations as they receive no government money to do this amazing work.
